On January 14, 2026, Ms. Virsa Y. Perkins, Principal Officer of the U.S. Consulate in Fukuoka, together with staff from the Political and Economic Section, paid a courtesy visit to the Tobata Campus of Kyushu Institute of Technology. They met with President Yasunori Mitani, Executive Director Takuo Yasunaga (for Education Linkage and Cooperation Platform and Information System), and Vice President Tohru Kamiya (for Office of International Strategic Partnerships and Advanced Research Headquarters)to exchange views on Kyutech’s educational and research strengths and future opportunities for collaboration with the United States.
During the visit, Kyutech introduced its initiatives in cutting-edge fields such as space, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors, including research integrating small satellites and robotics, as well as semiconductor research centers at the Iizuka Campus. The university also presented its student exchange program with its partner institution, the City College of New York (CCNY), its English-taught Space Systems Engineering Course, and international collaboration and social implementation initiatives through Kyutech Arise, Kyutech’s first investment subsidiary.
Through this visit, mutual understanding was further strengthened, and Kyushu Institute of Technology will continue to enhance collaboration with universities and research institutions in the United States and beyond, promoting the international development of advanced research and human resource development.
